Beth Johnston

...Her love of nature shows up in her garden scenes and wooded trails.  Florals and still life paintings usually are composed of items she has collected through the years along with flowers from her garden.

From the time she could hold a pencil Beth was drawing what she saw, and took her first “art lesson” when her parents enrolled her with a local art teacher when she was l4 years old.

Since that time she studied with several artist, and feels that the many diverse styles and techniques learned aided her in developing her own unique style of painting.

As much as she loved art, she had to pursue other means of support thru various jobs, as varied as sales clerk, office clerk and accounting and   was an accountant for Alcoa when the chance came in l976 to go into business for herself.  She opened Beth’s Originals –an art shop in Palestine, Texas. The shop grew from an artist supply store with art classes offered to one of the largest inventoried art galleries and frame shops in East Texas. Beth’s Son Mike and his wife April bought the business in 1999 and Beth retired to her home studio on beautiful Lake Palestine where she now pursues her love of painting, sewing, gardening, and enjoying life in general.
